About an hour later, he reposted this with the correct spelling of “strait”.
This has been an idea that’s been floated for awhile and it’s completely plausible that the US does it. However there could be long-ranging consequences, particularly if Iran can continue to destabilize the region via attacks.
Also regarding Iran, he wrote:

considered, by everyone, to be the NUMBER ONE STATE SPONSOR OF TERROR.
We are rapidly putting them out of business!
Trump also posted:

The Federal Reserve interest rate decision is at 2 pm ET today and there is zero chance of a rate cut priced into the market. The chances of future rate cuts are also dwindling due to the spike in energy prices and other commodities due to the war in Iran.
